Forgive me Father, but is it that big of a sin? I just never have liked the game of football. It could be the equivalent of watching golf for me. Just something I never got into. But I make the best of football games! While he is in the man cave watching football, I will share the top 3 reasons I like football: 3+ hours of uninterrupted me time, finger foods for dinner and less traffic if I want to get out and go somewhere! Have you ever been grocery shopping during a big game? No, oh yeah, I am the only one that does not watch football! Haha.

The average football game is about a little over 3 hours. There are four quarters and they are each 15 minutes on the clock for actual play time but can take about 30 minutes with all the stopping, starting, fouls, etc.

Here is my football playbook:

1st Quarter –

Supplies: 7 shirt hangers - 7 pant hangers -Post its - Zip locks - Clothes pins

Before you begin – you must do two things

1. Check your calendar – any meetings or events coming up that you need to dress for?

2. visit http://www.weather.com/ - plan to dress appropriately for the weather

Play: I have a garment rack in my room…but you can use your shower rod if that is convenient. Hang up all the hangers alternating pants hanger, shirt hanger, pant hanger, shirt hanger, etc. Put all your outfits for the week together on the rack. Then get your accessories for each outfit and put them in the zipclock. Clip the ziplock to the coordinating outfit with the clothespin.

Note: Try on the clothes and make note of the fit. Some days you may be leaner, some days you may be feel more bloated…switch outfits to feel more comfortable. I know on days that things are feeling a little snug, I try to wear more statement jewelry, so that is where a person’s eyes are drawn to. Remember this when accenting your clothing with accessories, don’t go overboard and look too gaudy or cluttered.

Organizing your wardrobe can take 15 – 30 minutes to do, but saves you hours during the week!

(Commercial Break – put 3 cups of water in a pot to boil on your stove. Then wash your hands very well for the next quarter!)

2nd Quarter

Supplies: Large heat resistant bowl (I use a tempered glass Pyrex bowl), bath towel, hand towel, q-tips, mirror, cotton balls, flat brush or foundation brush, mint julep face mask

Optional – Jasmine Tea, Lemon Lifter Tea, or Peppermint Tea

Pour the water into the bowl with whichever flavor or tea you enjoy. Add 3 more cups of water to the pot and place it on the stove again. Place your head above the bowl, not to close, but close enough to feel the steam vapors. Place the towel over your head and the bowl to keep the steam enclosed.

Steam your face for no more than 15 minutes. The steam will open your pores. After 15 minutes, with CLEAN hands, extract the black heads from your nose or face by applying pressure with your fingers or the q-tips. If this is difficult for you, skip to step below.

After your extractions, use the cotton balls to clean away any leftover residues and dry your skin a little. Discard the water from your bowl and replace with the clean water on the stove. Set your face above the steam again and cover up with a towel. Allow the steam to penetrate your skin for 10 minutes. Remove the towel, pat your skin dry.

Your pores are once again open and we will now use a mask to exfoliate your skin. I recommend using a mud mask or the classic Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Mask. Place the tube in the hot water to heat up the mask. Using a foundation brush apply the mask onto your face avoiding the eyes. Discard the water.

(Commercial Break: Pop some frozen wings and pizza in the oven…or order some!)

3rd Quarter

Part of putting an outfit together includes pressing or steaming your clothes. I can’t iron. I never have been able to, even though when I was in high school, Carlton Mack, did a fabulous how to demonstration on “Ironing a button up shirt”, how many of you remember that? Anyway, even that lesson did not further my ironing techniques. So hello clothes steamer!!! You can get these anywhere now and they will have your outfit looking as good as new. After you get halfway through the steaming, about 15 minutes, you are ready to go rinse off the mint julep face mask. Use luke warm water to remove the mask. Use a face brush or washcloth to remove the entire mask residue. Pat your face dry and let it air dry the rest of the way.

4th Quarter

Finish steaming your clothing, and move your clothes back to your closet. Grab the wings and pizza from the oven and let it cool off. This should give your skin about 15 min to breath and dry off. The last step to your facial is to hydrate your skin. I use the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Pack. Rinse the foundation brush very well, making sure to remove all of the mask between the bristles. Use the brush to apply a hydrating face lotion generously to the skin. To make this routine go by faster store all your supplies together. So next week it's all there. It will all become routine and you will look forward to your at home spa days!

Now go grab your snacks and feel free to keep them to yourself or share with the Football fan in his man cave. You might just catch the best part of the game, the end!

I have not posted updates on Facebook or blogged because things were a lil bananas!!! I had a photoshoot for my younger cousin's friends. It was an absolute blast! Be sure to click the "Photos" tab!!!

On the ride home I took some time to reflect on my career in Makeup Artistry and just how rewarding it really is. The Models all fell in love with themselves and took liberties in taking pictures of each other and coming up with new motivation. It was so much fun! And I was very happy to have been there to share with them the tips and techniques to bring out their beautiful features!!!

So in my heart I know that as a Makeup Artist you do something magical for women. You never know what is going on in their life and how deflated they can feel when they sit down in front of you. I used to go to the Nordstrom makeup counters on a bad day just for a makeup pick me up. As soon as you wave a magic brush...people just transform and everything that was on their mind just washes away, and they fall in love with their own beauty....it's magic...as corny as it sounds...but seriously...all the worries on a persons mind totally change when they see themselves all dolled up!

The photoshoot was amazing, which I expected because these ladies are always alot of fun to spend time with! So the vibe was good and the results are fabulous! I hope you enjoy the pics and there are definitely more to come!

Stay tuned Kittens!
Ok, the truth is, not everyone can get away with wearing leopard prints. If you pass it on the streets you might raise a brow. But pulling off the print can be a sexy and chic look for the Fall. Keep a few pointers in mind when building an outfit that includes animal print anything. First, a good rule of thumb is to not include the print in more than 30% of your outfit. So choose one: accessories and shoes, shirt or skirt/pants. The one exception is a dress, but opt for a short dress and pair with a solid scarf and belt to break it up.

One of my favorite things to do is grab a latte at Barnes and Noble while parusing through the collection of fashion magazines....I narrow down my selection this way! It is an addiction, sometimes I visit Asian bookstores to paruse through thier mags too! I am an absolute fashion mag junkie...and in an effort to balance a better budget, I only purchase a magazine that particulary grabs my attention for fashion influence or makeup, of course! I also keep pen and paper handy for websites I want to check out, or anything I want to copy. I have been known to snap a picture in a pinch!

I did purchase this Glamour Magazine....I have not had more than a quick glance through it yesterday but I wanted to share Jennifer Lopez's shoot with you because she looks stunning! And it was a great representation of incorporating animal prints into your wardrobe....enjoy!

Hey...all I am saying is I remember contemplating leaving it in my office so I could upload some pics when I had a second....

Mission 1: Find the camera....
I accept....stay tuned

OK so the eyebrow situation....my hair is pretty thin...and because it is I figure thats why my eyebrows are not as full as the next gals. And as part of my budget of 2010 I decided getting them waxed all the time was a waste of dough..seriously! I can pluck them myself, whats the big deal? The big deal is that once you start plucking you get this determination to even them out and you forget that they are freaking eyebrows...they are not the same on both sides so the more you pluck off one side the more you have to pluck off the other side and soon your left looking like that Bozo the clown....

And there is nothing you can do but grow them out. Which brings me to the stage of growing back your eyebrows...this is worse then people who just don't pluck their eyebrows...you eyebrows look like litle porcupines...with little hairs spiking out in every direction...but what can you do?

I have been plucking my eyebrows and waxing them for so long I am not sure they will never grow back as thick as they did pre-Bozo. But I am determined.... I was trying to let them just be natural but after taking the few pics I have for this site...I realized I needed some maintenence on my situation. So I cleaned it up a bit....also waxed my upper lip...and now I feel like I can face the world a little less insecure.

If plucking your eyebrows is a pain here are a few tips I hope help:

1. Pluck your eyebrows after a warm shower. The heat will open up your pores and hair follicles will be a little more forgiving when plucking your brows.

2. Apply Ambesol, the tooth numbing treatment, to your eyebrows 10 min prior to plucking. This will lightly numb your eyebrows.

3. Keep a pair of tweezers in your makeup bag or on your vanity. Maintain your eyebrows and you won't have to pluck as much when you groom your eyebrows!

Hope this helps!

Stay tuned for tomorrows sQuint!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-22081958031469722062010-08-13T10:42:00.000-07:002010-08-13T10:42:32.253-07:00sQuints...is that what you would call a pallette of 5?

Maybe I should name my eye of the days sQuints...DONE...so todays sQuint is a little more fun...even though it is still not photographing right....I have to work on it...it seems like its bold and bright in office lighting but then the pictures show it kinda muted....

The shapes, the sizes, the bristle density, the bristle type, the length of the handle and then last but not least the technique. Brushes are tools...their is actually a proper way to use a brush...and most people don't think that deep about it and just jump into it. I jumped in because I am impatient...and I am the type to think I could just figure it out.

Long ago, in a land not to far from home, a girl purchased her first makeup brush...a MAC 224.....this brush was the most multipurposed brush that the sales associate could endorse. She said this brush was the best of all the brushes....it would work on my crease...it would blend...it could even be used to cover up my blemishes...sweet! I bought it! YES! Finally, the holy grail of brushes...

This is how it is sold right...here is a brush that will do all the things you need in one brush. I am going to make your life easy. I watch all these videos and read all these reviews etc...and try to bring it to you plain and simple.

If you are a beginner with brushes...you have two options. Google Sigma Brushes and buy a kit. These are very good beginner brushes. I would not necessarily say they are Professional use brushes, but they are good for your personal use while you are familiarizing yourself with different brushes. You could get a MAC brush kit for $50 for five brushes...just remember these are machine made brushes as opposed the hand made full size brushes.

The other option is go to Michaels, and go when there is a sale or a coupon! Get on the MAC Website before you go and look at the shape and fibers of the brush you want...then when you get to Michaels find one that compares.

If you are in the more intermediate stages of makeup artistry, invest in good quality brushes by MAC, Bobby Brown or Nars. All are handmade of the finest materials.

Once you have all the different brushes...compare them to the ones on the MAC website to get familiar with what the shapes and fibers are used for. Do a search on youtube for some tips on technique...but most importantly, play with the brushes...experiment with them on your own.

Here are a couple tips:

Hold your brush like chopsticks. Don't hold your brush on the silver farrel...hold it closer to the end.

Do not apply to much pressure. Let the bristles do the work!

Spray on some FIX+ for a more concentrated application

Wash your brushes after every client application

Wash your personal brushes about once a week depending on use...

I have been experimenting with brush cleaners...I use brush cleanser daily after putting on my makeup so that the next time I use the brush there is no leftover color. And then weekly I will do a deep cleaning. I notice that using the MAC brush cleanser does leave my bristles more stiff. I asked MAC Artists from my local MAC Pro Store and they suggest using Baby Shampoo in between. Inside the farrel of your brush is glue. Sometimes harsher cleansers can break down the glue and you will notice the bristles will start to fall out. Baby shampoo is mild but sometimes I do not feel it is as effective. If I use the baby shampoo and then dip my brush in MAC Brush Cleanser I will sometimes notice more product is released.

I bought the Master Brush Cleanser from Michaels...and this stuff is amazing! I highly recommend it and don't know why more users have not reviewed it. I will post a vid here soon to show you how it works!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-45373133792180770822010-07-08T07:54:00.000-07:002010-07-08T07:59:27.510-07:00Strawberry Shortcake

I don't even know how to begin this post...lol...Hi my name is Cindy and I am an addict of Strawberry Lip Balm. hahahaha...I really am! Most of the lip balms I own and use more frequently are strawberry. I once counted about 13 lip balms lying around my desk at work!?!?! Don't ask...my friend was hanging out with me and said how many do you have...so we counted em up!

I don't really know why or how this whole addiction begin. All I can say is that I have some fond childhood memories of picking strawberries with my family, and of playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls when I was little. Yeah I ran around like a little crackhead snorting these dolls...which maybe other little girls were not obsessed with doing...hahaha...and I recently bought my neice the whole collection of NEW Strawberry Shortcake Dolls...which smell just as intoxicatingly good. I sniffed that doll for about 5 min!!!! I am not a weirdo...so since I can not walk around with dolls taped to my nostrils...the next best thing is Strawberry Scented Lipgloss.

I also suffer from Dry Lips...and nothing is more unattractive on a woman then peeling dry lips...I mean if you have acne, you can cover that up, it takes a little skill but it can be done flawlessly...but peeling chapped dry lips...you can not cover it up. You have to treat it. And you have to be consistent with lip therapy to overcome it. I always have some kind of lip balm with me, and 9 times out of 10 it is Strawberry Scented.

So here is another free beauty tip....the next time you are sitting at dinner...grab a packet of sugar...not splenda, not sweet and low...good ol fashion white sugar. Toss a couple of those in your makeup bag. Whenever you feel like your lips are peeling, dry and chapped. Go to the ladies room and use the sugar and water to exfoliate your lips. Or keep a sugar jar next to the sink in your bathroom....sprinkle some sugar on your toothbrush and brush your lips! Proper exfoliation is step 1. Step 2: moisturize.

I think I may have bought ever possible type of lip balm on the market. I have little stash of Strawbery Lip Balms on my noteboard bulletin board...I will post a pic. Sometimes I will layer on a cheep strawberry lip balm over vaseline or something for the smell. haha..ok enough about smelling strawberries...

After alot of trial and error purchasing I have a few products that are always within hands reach.

Here are some of my favorite lip products:

#1- Bison Japan Hannari series Honey Strawberry Lip Cream - I discovered this lip balm at Mitsuwa in San Jose, CA. I think it cost $3.99 and it lasted me almost a year....So don't go crazy and buy a bunch, save some for the rest of the Asian Beauty Addicts. hahaha! I recently was back in San Jose. I went to Mitsuwa just to restock on these and they were all out...they only had the other flavor that comes in the little pot...its not the same...smells awful too... I strickly stick to the Strawberry Honey Flavor... I swear by this lip balm..it is the only stick balm that really, really works! I ended up ordering it on eBay...I ordered 3...So I am good for a while!

#2-MAC Tendertones - I am in love, love, love with MAC Tendertones. The smell, the coverage, the SPF and the conditioning all in one package is a dream. This is always in my little pool bag! My favorite color is Shush! which is green but it really counters the pink in my lips and looks natural. You can find these now at your CCO or on eBay.

#3-Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm and Moisturizer - Rosebud Salve has a great following. It is made out of petrolatum, like Vaseline, which is exactly what it reminds me of. Strawberry scented though so it smells great!!! The tin lasts a while and I like putting this on my cuticles! This is available at Sephora and Ulta.

#4-Vaseline - Vaseline works...just ask Tyra! I mean there really isn't anything fabulous to it...It kinda smells and that may be why I don't like it as much...and something about putting Petroleum on my lips...but meh...I don't sweat it that much...I think it's just a little to greasy and I don't particulary like the smell...but it works!

#5 - Laura Mercier Lip Silk- I watched a youtube review and this was highly praised as being the one and only treatment someone used for dry lips...yes it does work...I agree with the review...but I think it works just as well as vaseline.

I may have paid the difference for the packaging because it made it seem fancier...but seriously just get the vaseline.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-55380393046501352642010-07-08T07:24:00.000-07:002010-07-08T07:24:53.368-07:00ManosIn Spanish homes you are sometimes described as having the “manos” (hands or the touch) to do something you are gifted at. Some people have them and some people don’t. My parents and friends have always said I have them. I just picked up on arts and crafts so easily. I credit a family of very talented artists and crafty people on both sides, Peruvian (my father) and Korean (my Mother). I have always had a vigorous imagination and I can’t say that I have been that shy in my life. I am very outgoing and I usually take the risks opposed to the comfortable alternatives. Sometimes I fail, sometimes they work in my favor. A part of what attracted me to makeup artistry is the expression of art…followed by the boost of esteem clients receive through my work. I love that! I love the zone you get in to…it’s tranquil…I get so focused in on bringing my vision to fruition that time stops and worries are set aside…it’s just you, your brushes, colors and your canvas….I don’t really feel that passionate about other jobs or hobbies. I work F/T for a Non-profit that does wonderful work…and I feel good about that every day! I am a P/T Stylist for Lane Bryant, don’t get me wrong I love this job too! I just wish the retail side of it was not there…if all I had to do was help clients pick out clothes for their body type and introduce them to new trends, etc. I would love that job more! I hate doing the register, I am just all too familiar with trying to make your dollars stretch on the other side.

I think the reason I can do the things I set my mind to (except weight loss and saving money…lol…just artistic or crafty things) is that I pay very close attention to details. Event planning, Fashion, Photography, Painting and Makeup Artistry are all forms of art that I really focus on details with. And will practice at and try til I get the techniques down or achieve the end result I am aiming for. I am pretty persistent in this arena. I wish I could apply the same passion in other areas of my life!

I am not sure when I learned to be this way. I remember watching Oprah talk about event planning and/or decorating and she said, “It is all in the details.” And I have to 100% agree, I have always had an eye for details, the final touch on things. Even when I shop, I always shop like I am picking over produce. No matter what the item is, I compare it to whatever else is on the shelf or rack next to it. Is the hem straighter on this shirt than that shirt, is the paint on this figure better painted than that figure, etc. etc.

Maybe it comes from my mother, I have seen my mother create some of most beautiful art, and that’s not just because she is my mom! I promise! Haha…I have never listed this but I think I will for the sake of just doing it…

My mother:

Was a bank teller at First Bank of Alaska

Co-Owned and Operated Class-A Auto Body Collision Center

Was a poker dealer

Was a private chef

Owned, Stocked and Operated a Bridal Dress Shop and Clothing Store – Specialized in Selling Joe Blasco Cosmetics and Laniege Cosmetics

Owned a Pool Hall

Owned, Stocked and Operated a Kids Clothing Store

Owned, Stocked and Operated a Women’s Clothing Store and Laniege Cosmetics Counter

Designed floral arrangements from handmade paper flowers and sold them in a boutique

Owner and Head Chef of Hometown Restaurant – an authentic Korean food family restaurant

Owner and Head Chef of Chopsticks Café – a Coffee Shop and Korean Café

So maybe that is why I have my feet so firmly planted in Fashion, Makeup and Food! Haha! After working for the Bank my mother has been her own boss…that is pretty admirable if I do say so myself. Maybe one day Copycat Cosmetics ...keeping my fingers crossed!
First haul video and review....is in...I am so excited to check this collection out. Ever since Temptalia dished that the new In the Groove collection would be debuting on July 8th...I have been on pins and needles to check it out! So I am so excited to see such a great first video of the haul.

So I had to post it for my readers...the 3 of you that are out there at the moment!!! thanks for reading!

Have a great 4th of July celebration!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-59196605854562739292010-07-03T13:18:00.000-07:002010-07-03T13:18:21.860-07:00Keeping your Kit CleanI hope that my trial and error experience will help you to save money and time when making your future purchases.

Have you ever seen that episode of Tyra that uncovered the hidden bacteria found in your makeup bag? Makeup and it's applicators tend to be a popular breading groud for bacteria. So it is very important to avoid cross contaminating products.

I shopped around for traincases and I really did not like any of the ones that are available. Most of them have a foam core that can not be cleaned. Half of them are made of metal and are extremely heavy empty? I finally found a suitable choice for myself. These containers can be found at Walmart of all places!

I bought a couple in different sizes, parired them with the $1 organization trays every guru basically has recommended (thanks!) and voila! When I set up a station I just pop the lids off, prop them side by side on a table and everythings is right there in front of me on a flat surface. Best of all, I can throw all the plastic pieces in the dishwasher and sanitize them!

So here is a brief tour of my makeup kit:Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-76335353311075853602010-07-01T13:27:00.000-07:002010-07-01T13:27:23.687-07:00The DFW's = Damn Forehead Wrinkles!

This is probably one of my favorite videos...because I feel like someone finally hit the nail on the head with asian eyes! FINALLY!! Check it out...if your an artist this is great info for your asian clients!

I love watching youtube gurus...it's my obsession! It helps me stay on my game with new techniques and products on the market. Unfortunately, most of the gurus on youtube do not have DFW's...Lucky B*@#%$!!! They talk about wrinkle prevention and treatment as if they have one wrinkle on their youthful faces! Drives me insane! I don't have alot of wrinkles....yet...I know those bastards are coming!!! But I do have 3 wrinkles that have found permanent residence on my forehead.

I try to find products that promise to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Clinical tests prove that these products have to work, right? Wrong, like an exboyfriend it LIES! Where are these clinics and who are the women taking the tests?

Let me see, how many bottles and jars of products have I bought to treat wrinkles and how many of them worked? Ratio is approx 35 to 0....none have worked...and we are talking at the least $30 a treatment and max up to $150...so you are looking at over $1500 invested in finding a treatment....I could have just got botox right?

A part of me is ready to take that step and inject the DFW's!!! But another part of me says, there has got to be an easier and safer route. Forehead masaging, exfoliating, staying hydrated, misting charged water and applying these potions routinely in the a.m. and p.m. has got to have some effect!?! Right?!?!

So here is the deal, I am going to go on a quest for a real wrinkle fighting formula and a primer or something that will help hide these suckers! I am going to keep track of the pictures and post them here...so you don't just have a review of something but you actually see the results, so you know if 60% wrinkle reduction is actually even noticeable!

All my ladies with DFW's get your eviction letters together...something has to work!

I will post Day one of Operation Elimination of DFW's this evening so I can post pics...stay tuned...hooorah!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-61787230682017935872010-06-30T13:14:00.000-07:002010-06-30T13:30:10.077-07:00It's My Perogative, and I'm Doing It Just For You! - Basic SkincareBobbi Brown saved my life!!

I found myself running trial and error sessions on my skin. Taking my ph levels through the ringer was not going to help my skin find the balance it needed to clear up. So my first tip is to be gentle on your skin. Sometimes adult acne is hormonal...pay attention to your skin...if you are breaking out with your cycle or prior to your cycle don't get crazy and buy deep acne treatments. Spot treat those blemishes without disrupting the rest of your facial skin.
A unique soap formula with a rich, luxurious lathering action that lifts off makeup and dirt. A Coconut Extract derivative cleanses deeply, yet gently, while Apricot Oil hydrates and cushions skin for an incredibly clean, soft, and refreshed feeling. Lathering Tube Soap works especially well for combination skin. Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist tested.

(I am not one for reinventing the wheel :) Copied from the BB website)

CC: I am on my 3rd tube of this facial cleanser and I love it. I actually save money using this product! I no longer use a makeup remover to remove makeup before jumping in the shower. In fact, I find this to be one of the best makeup removers I have ever used. Yet at the same time it's very gentle on the skin. I use the tiniest centimeter of product and it laters up for my face and neck! It usually lasts me about 2 to 3 months.

A.M. : I usually don't wash my face with a cleanser in the morning, I just run cold water on my skin to wake up and reduce any puffiness to my skin and then on to Step 2. Sometimes if I have a blemish I spot treat it with a DDF Sulfur Mask overnight and then I will wash my face with this the next morning.

P.M. : I wear makeup practically everyday and I have to shower each and every night! I am not a two days to shampoo girl...I have to shampoo everynight...I just can not sleep unless my head feels clean...I don't think it is that good for my hair...but I have tried to go two days and I can't sleep right! If I am so exhausted that I fall asleep with makeup on...I have the worst sleep...All night I lecture myself about how much I am going to regret not washing my face...then I finally jump up and do it! So now, I don't dilly dally I just get it over with and enjoy my sleep!

Note: I give a sample of this to my clients so that they can wash away their makeup with ease at the end of their event! I don't know what they use at home but I have heard of people having to wash their faces several times after photo shoots...I know this will do the trick the first time around...it's just good stuff!

Step 2: Bobbi Brown Soothing Face Tonic
This alcohol-free hydrating formula softens, tones, and refines skin -- gently -- without tightening or irritation. Infused with Cucumber Extract and natural Lavender to instantly soothe and calm. Dermatologist-tested.

(Again copied from the BB website)

CC: Smells so great! This is the highlight of skincare...it feels great and smells great, and I am positive that this along with the Lathering Tube Soap is the key to great looking skin!

A.M.: I use this every morning. It never really picks up residue because I pretty much removed it the night before, so I my primary use for it in the a.m. is to refresh and soothe my skin. It calms the redness and helps reduce puffiness.

P.M. I pair this with the Exfoliating Cotton Discs from CVS to get the perfectly CLEAN face. I just saturate the cotton disc and run it over my face til there is no residue left on the cotton, usually by the 2nd or 3rd disc. I concentrate on my forehead (to remove any makeup spelunking in my DFW's) and around my nose.
De-puffs, erases the look of dark circles, firms, soothes and softens skin around the eye. Special optics act like magic to fade away lines.

(From MAC Website)

CC: This was one of the first MAC skincare items I purchased and fell in love with. Working there I don't know how many women and introduced to this that fell in love with it as well! I use this everday...I put a small amount on my ring finger...press both of my ring fingers together and then stipple it onto my eyes. (In a dotting motion, pushing it into my skin.)

Step 4: MAC Charged Water Hydrating Mist
Charged water, fused with vital ions from rhodochrosite to create a powerfully protective hydrating mist to help defend the skin from environmental agents. It also has an aroma of a grapefruit/tangerine.

CC: During select promotions MAC introduces Charged Waters. This is kind of a skeptical product. Some people prefer fix+ but that is not really a fair comparison as they are both created for different reasons. Charged waters have different direct purposes. This orange on is for Hydrating. So this is an essential step in my morning routine. One bottle pretty much has lasted almost a year! I used about 3 sprays every morning.

STEP 4: DDF Protective Eye Cream UV SPF 15
A lustrous, lightweight daytime eye treatment fortified with essential fatty acids and humectants to moisturize and help minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Broad spectrum SPF helps protect the fragile eye area from future UV damage.

Protects fragile eye area

Minimizes look of fine lines

(From the DDF Website)

CC: It is a golden rule of skin protection to put your SPF on an hour before heading into the sun. So step 4 is protecting my eye are from the suns aging. I focus this formula around my whole eye..avoiding the area I would put eyeliner on. This helps prevent the product from melting into your eye from heat or sweating, etc. Alot of people tend to just put this on the bottom under their eye. But you do get wrinkles, aging and darker on your eyelids!

Step 5: DDF UltraLite Oil Free Moisturizing Dew

An oil-, fragrance-, and dye-free moisturizer for all skin types, including acne-prone skin. Contains aloe vera, vitamins A, E and C, and grapeseed for comfortable hydration. Will not clog pores. Lanolin-free.

Absorbs quickly

Fragrance-free

Replenishes moisture

CC: I have never used a product like this. The pump somehow airates (sp?) the dew and gives it a mousey (I may have made that word up, too!) texture. One pump will be enough to cover your entire face and neck. I love this product. It leaves my face feeling hydrated and clean.

I know it seems like a lot of steps...but this literally takes me 5 minutes to do in the morning. I used to use the Bobbi Brown Lathering Cleanser, Tonic and then Dove Moisturizer with SPF 15 and that worked great! So I know that the Bobbi Brown products are my Holy Grail products for treating adult acne. I hope you give them a try and let me know what you think!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-68476743454959205092010-06-29T23:21:00.000-07:002010-08-19T19:04:10.648-07:00Storage Tips
You can find this acrylic bead storage container at Michaels Craft Store. Sign up for the email newsletter and receive 40% off! The container cost $9.99 so you wll basically be paying around $6 for it. The MAC eyeshadow singles fit perfectly inside this case.

The lid comes off easily so be aware and keep a grip on it when you turn it over to see the names of the eyeshadows.

If you are familiar with using the MAC Pro Pallettes then you know that they eyeshadows can become pretty messy and cross contaminated and sometimes break in transit.

I find that it is less messy and your eyeshadows are less likely to break in the original packaging. You can fit blushes, Mineralized Skin Finishes and Mineralized Eyeshadows in a case as well. Stay tuned for a video of my Makeup Artistry Kit that I take on site for additional organization tips!

Here are some tips to discover free tools! I will do my best to update this list with more free tools as I come across them!

1. Sephora - The next time you visit Sephora grab and extra mascara wand and sponge tip applicator from the tester station at the end of the displays. Did you know that sephora will make you a sample of any of the perfumes they carry? Ask a sales associate to hook you up with a free sample of your favorite perfume!

Mascara Wand -

Spray with hairspray and groom your eyebrows

After applying your mascara, use the clean sample wand to brush out any clumps

Dip clean sample wand into eye makeup remover solution and run throuh eyelashes for quicker and more efficient eye make up removal

Sponge Tip Applicator

Sponge tip applicators are great for heavy layering of eyeshadow

Sepora sample sponge tip applicators are the best tool for cleaning up racoon eyes! (aka smudged eyeliner)

The next time you are painting your nails have this handy to clean up any mistakes, just dip in nail polish remover

Perfume Sample

Comes in a refillable plastic atomizer for your purse.

Lasts for several uses

2. Nordstroms - Besides getting the same items as you could get at Sephora (Yes, Nordstrom will also make you a sample of their perfumes but it comes in a vial...Sephora's is better), here are a couple counter specific items.

Sample Pots - MAC and Bobbi Brown have a generous sample pot that they will fill with select products for you to test. I usually ask for an extra empty MAC sample jar to keep some vasaline in for lips! Other counters have a smaller snap shut type of sample container.

MAC - Try sampling a pigment, this sample will last you forever!!!!!

Bobbi Brown - Try sampling some of their foundations!

DDF- Sample the Sulfur mask...and use the sample to spot treat blemishes overnight!

Mario Bedescu - Sample the drying lotion for present acne!

Trend Show - Trend shows cost $15 but then you get the $15 dollars back to use towards a purchase on the date of the event...so technically a trend show is FREE!

See the latest products and techniques with a continental breakfast/light snacks

Free generous goodie bag of samples

Free opportunity to win prizes

Free makeup application at select counters - I have even met with Dr. Dennis Gross from MD Skincare and received a consultation on my skin!

3. MAC - One of the most highlighted freebies in cosmetics is MAC's "Back to MAC" recycling program. Save up 6 containers from MAC products and you can bring them in for a free tube of lipstick! Seriously! If you don't need lipstick, you can get a lipglass or eyeshadow but that is only available at their retail stores and not department store counters.

Get on their mailing list and you will be invited to exciting product launches! The Magic, Myrth and Mischief launch was catered and had a bar!!! So much fun!

Sample Pots are available to test products as well...feel free to ask!

Keep in mind that it is much better for the economy and for the enviroment for you to sample a product then to return a product!!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433260086778866372.post-37622799539159999042010-06-28T20:36:00.000-07:002010-08-19T19:03:20.987-07:00Welcome to Copycat Cosmetics

Copycat Cosmetics drew inspiration from the concept of women taking pictures to their hair stylists for them to copy.
